NIGHT OF HOPE

Pathway To Hope is committed to serving the personal and social needs of individuals and families arising from a broad spectrum of mental illness, encourages, educates, & empowers individuals & families arising from dealing with a broad spectrum of mental illnesses.
A Night of Hope is an annual event that allows the community to connect with the organization and get involved.
SACS volunteers registered guests, sold raffle tickets, and directed guests at the event.



URBAN RENDEVOUS VIII

The mission of the Urban Ranger Corps is to help prepare at-risk inner city youth for responsible and productive futures through a program of disciplined work experience and service in their community; leadership development; and individualized planning for post-High School careers. Urban Rendevous is their annual fundraiser held in 2017 at the College Basketball Experience.  SACS has helped with this event for many years and this year registered guests and checked out accounts after the auction.      

   

HARVESTERS FOOD SORT

Harvesters’ mission is to feed hungry people today and work to end hunger tomorrow. They are a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 620 not-for-profit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others.  SACS regularly helps sort food, this month sorting and boxing over 3800 lbs of meat products.




JULY JUBILEE

The July Jubilee celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  Held annually, the Jubilee is a fun and festive community event that everyone looks forward to each year. SACS volunteers sold tickets for and helped serve a pancake breakfast and enjoyed the entertainment.




"KIKI" CURLS PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY FAIR

The Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City distributes bike helmets at this event. Volunteers from SACS help with fitting helmets and training kids in their use. Some volunteers were better with fitting hair styles than others.

 


KANSAS CITY FRINGE FESTIVAL

Now celebrating its lucky 13th anniversary, the Kansas City Fringe Festival is an 11-day explosion of performing and visual arts.  It is the single biggest celebration of arts and culture in the Kansas City metropolitan region.  SACS volunteers help at opening night festivities and take on many tasks during the festival, including ushering at shows and acting as house managers.  On opening night we were handing out shirts and mingling with performers.







HEART OF AMERICA VA STAND DOWN

The Heart of America Stand Down Foundation hosts two Stand Downs, annually, serving veterans in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Their mission is to provide marginal and homeless veterans in the Kansas City metro access to short- and long-term resources necessary to begin rebuilding their lives. Together, as a community, we provide resources necessary to assist veterans in ridding barriers that prohibit them from more fulfilling, productive lives.  SACS volunteers served lunch at the spring Stand Down,.  Mayor James and Congressman Cleaver offered remarks.

   

 

OUTPOURING OF HOPE
COMMUNITY SERVICES LEAGUE


Community Services League seeks to make meaningful and lasting change in people's lives. Their mission is to assist communities in reaching their potential by providing immediate relief to people in need, assessing their situations, and providing solutions that lead to economic stability. Their goal is to help people improve their household income, household net worth, credit scores, and overall self-sufficiency and well-being with the following: income supports, housing counseling, employment readiness, and financial counseling.   SACS volunteers support the efforts of CSL by assisting with their fundraisers.  Recently volunteers assisted with registration and food and drink serving at the Outpouring of Hope event.




 



 DUMPSTER DIVING FOR BRIDGING THE GAP

Bridging The Gap (BTG) works to make the Kansas City region sustainable by “connecting environment, economy and community,”and is the premier organization in the area providing environmental education and volunteer action through more than 1,500 volunteers annually.  SACS volunteers are among them.  Recently we enthusiastically helped out at the Metro North Recycling Center.  


        

    

     

 
NIGHT OUT WITH ELVIS

Some of our volunteers took the night off recently to see an Elvis impersonator and do a little dancing.  We love to dance.
