HEART OF AMERICA VA STAND DOWN

The Heart of America Stand Down Foundation hosts two Stand Downs, annually, serving veterans in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Their mission is to provide marginal and homeless veterans in the Kansas City metro access to short- and long-term resources necessary to begin rebuilding their lives. Together, as a community, we provide resources necessary to assist veterans in ridding barriers that prohibit them from more fulfilling, productive lives.  SACS volunteers served lunch at the spring Stand Down,.  Mayor James and Congressman Cleaver offered remarks.

OUTPOURING OF HOPE
COMMUNITY SERVICES LEAGUE

Community Services League seeks to make meaningful and lasting change in people's lives. Their mission is to assist communities in reaching their potential by providing immediate relief to people in need, assessing their situations, and providing solutions that lead to economic stability. Their goal is to help people improve their household income, household net worth, credit scores, and overall self-sufficiency and well-being with the following: income supports, housing counseling, employment readiness, and financial counseling.   SACS volunteers support the efforts of CSL by assisting with their fundraisers.  Recently volunteers assisted with registration and food and drink serving at the Outpouring of Hope event.

DUMPSTER DIVING FOR BRIDGING THE GAP

Some of our volunteers took the night off recently to see an Elvis impersonator and do a little dancing.  We love to dance.

TURKEY DEBONING??

SACS volunteers prepared turkeys for the Kansas City Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner.  This event is a favorite among the members. Who knew deboning turkeys could be so much fun?
